8:30-9:00 - Arrival and check-in
9:00-9:50 - Special topics class 1
10:00-10:50 - Special topics class 2

1:00- 2:00 - Masterclass
2:00-3:00 - Signature Recital
3:00-3:30 - Gala soundcheck
4:00-4:30 - ViolaFest Gala Concert​
* Participants are advised to bring their own lunch, snacks and refillable water bottle
MASTERCLASS
Students who register for ViolaFest may apply to perform at the Ben Ullery Masterclass. Please provide recordings of two contrasting performance videos, (YouTube Unlisted links). All applicants will be further considered for scholarships to summer festivals. Submissions are reviewed by the SCVS Board of Directors. Masterclass performers and scholarship recipients will be announced on January 20, 2026.

WHAT IS VIOLAFEST?

ViolaFest is open to 4th to 12th grade violists (and violinists) of all levels and adult auditors.

Gain new skills, build camaraderie, meet new friends, and be inspired!

Rehearse and perform in the ViolaFest Gala Concert, open to friends and family.

Attend special topics classes led by top Southern California teachers​​.

Signature Recital and Masterclass by ViolaFest Guest Artist, Ben Ullery, Assistant Principal Violist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic

Violinists are welcome to come try viola for the day. Violas will be available if you register early for the 'violin to viola' track.

Summer festival scholarships available! All applicants for the masterclass are eligible for these awards.
